Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Live and work in New York, USA

Michele Claude Garoute Michel started painting at a very early age. She was only 5 years old when she won her first award for art. Everyone thought it was ephemeral then. As time would show however, a visit by her father Tiga (a prominent Haitian artist) in New York 1991 reaffirmed her true passion for art. Like an explosion Klode the artist came out, and through her outburst we are left beneficiaries of marvelous wonders.
Klode paints on canvas, paper, and hardboard, among her mediums, she uses a well develop technique by her father known as Soleil Brule which is best described as the synchronization of earthly tones which emit obscure forms and figures, suggesting a condition of modification as if observing the accomplishment of a transmutation. klode's startling originality of work shows that she has approached her medium with daring and her creativeness is boundless.
She paints in small and large formats 4 by 6 inches to 5 by 7 feet tall.
When Klode looks at a new canvas in her home studio she has no idea what will emerge. Once the initial colors are applied, "I see things and pull them out" she explains. Each of her pieces is color and designs that calls to her and demands to take  form. Thus Klode's creative  process  is influence by the Soleil Brule technique.
Another creative side of Klode's work is that she designs on clothing and makes crafts. She hopes one day to have her own Klode line (Fanm Soleil).
Klode's work has been well received by all.

Klode also worked with her father Tiga. She was trained as a specialist in Artistic Rotation, a well develop art discipline by Tiga. This art discipline has already received international recognition.  It's been done in Dbouti, Africa; Guadeloupe, Martinique; Washington DC; Broward, Fort Lauderdale USA; different places in Haiti, specially every Saturday for children at "Fondation Tiga" his art center in Haiti. He believes that this art discipline helps children or adults alike find inner peace and balance in everyday life.
klode would say!
Everyone needs to maintain or search a creative side in life. Tiga the prominent Haitian artist tell us to stay creative if we want to be free. I don't have any answers or theory for a perfect life. Every time I thought that I found an answer to a problem or a way to adapt to a conflict, someone or something would come along to disrupt or confuse that understanding. So I kept searching deep inside me and around me, looking for my "Eden on Earth" and how to make a difference in this world. Through my search I found Klode.
Who is Klode?
Klode is my creative side. Klode is also the mask that I wear to escape when my serenity is challenged. Most of all Klode help keep me grounded and focus. I am most happy when Klode and I are in unity

Some years ago, my sister's art forms were merely sticks figures and fantasy-like-child designs. Never to be taken seriously, the years went on and so did she, unnoticed. Through times, she has developed and has modified her style and leaped unto a level that can be labeled as "masterpiece". Between the eyes and the object lie many layers of distortion, obscurity, clarity, passion, and outlet. Klode's object was her work, her work is her outlet, and her outlet is our joy. Her pieces represent conceptual travel, thoughts and ideas that flow endlessly from her inner being. There is a vast amount of imagery to be found in her work. We speak often of finding missing links.Klode has definitely found hers.

klode Exhibits an Abundance of Creativity
(This acorn did not fall far from the tree)
A full time artist, Klode began showing her work in 1997 and now exhibits in the New York area three times a year. She discovered making art was her true passion when the youngest o her three children was six. "As my children were growing up I started to think what  am I going to do?" She reflects on her transition to art. She  had no formal training. With much encouragement from her father she just started to paint. "Tiga dissuaded me from taking lessons. He suggested that I just continue to do as I was doing. He thought that lessons would destroy my creative spirit. "An artist and educator, the acorn hasn't fallen far from the tree.
